The Shrine Room at Tsogyelgar

A shrine room is 'Temenos', the Greek for sacred enclosure, a sanctified alchemical chamber where living symbols act as transformative catalyst. Paintings excuted to exacting measurements which embody and enworld sacred geometries are consecrated in ancient ritual and made living.

The world of Tantra is one in which the sensual dimension of human life is forged into a liberation aesthetics. The Upper Shrine room at Tsogyelgar was painted in a process which took 10 hours a day for over 1 year.

The Tantric Buddhas sanctifying the walls combine primordial archetypes of enlightenment with the living vision of a modern sage to create an environment provoking spiritual awakening. (more full body images of the yidams will soon be added)
